Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the years, I have written many letters to you, but none has been as
difficult as this — my final letter as headteacher of Hook C.P. School. As I prepare
for new challenges ahead, this week is especially poignant as I bid farewell to this
wonderful school community.
With all sincerity, I can say that Hook pupils are the best I have had the pleasure
of working with. They are compassionate, kind, thoughtful, hard-working, and fun!
I am confident they will achieve their goals, whatever these are. Despite our
school’s small size, it has a big heart and high ambitions for all, and I am pleased
we continue to offer the best possible start for all.
Since arriving at Hook, I have been fortunate to work with a team of dedicated
and talented staff members. Their unwavering commitment and loyalty are why
our school is so successful. Every day, they go above and beyond to ensure our
pupils receive the best possible start to their school careers. Their dedication
makes it a joy to come to work each day, and I will miss this extended family
deeply. In addition, our school is blessed with a team of experienced and
committed Governors. Their guidance, support, and friendship have made my
role much easier, for which I am incredibly grateful.
To you, our families and friends, I cannot thank you enough for the warm welcome
you gave me when I first arrived and the support you continue to offer. At Hook,
we understand the immense trust you place in us to care for your most precious
possessions—your children. The open and honest relationship we have between
school and home is vital to success, and I thank you wholeheartedly for it.
I would also like to acknowledge other staff members departing this week. Mrs.
Griffiths will begin a new role at Haverfordwest High, and Mrs. Rees is moving to
Cleddau Reach School. Both are hard-working and highly regarded, and we wish
them well in their new roles. The Governing Body is committed to developing our
staff, and their promotions are a testament to our vision of growing and
developing all members of the school community.
Looking ahead, I am confident that under the leadership of Mr. Williams, Hook
will continue to thrive as the school enters a new federation. This is an exciting
time for our school, and I eagerly await news of its continued development and
success. Our motto, We Care, We Work, We Learn, will always guide our ethos,
ensuring a happy and healthy school environment.
I wish you all a restful summer break.
Warmest wishes,
Alan Davies
